Question

I reanalyzed the Resolve data from the Rev3 processing.
I noticed that, for this observation, the line centroid energy of the Fe-K emission line becomes ~ 10 eV higher than that obtained with the Rev2 data.
Probably related to this, the Resolve Energy Scale Quality Reports for this observation shows positive energy shifts for 55Fe events.
I would like to check if there are any differences in energy scale calibration between the Rev2 and Rev3 data.
Are the Resolve Energy Scale Quality Reports for older data processing available somewhere?

Answer

Only the latest version of the energy-scale report is available, and we did not generate reports at all prior to Rev3.

The difference in energy scale calibration between the Rev2 and Rev3 data is that Rev3 data was calibrated using the Fe55 filter, while Rev2 data was calibrated using the cal-pixel.
If you did not reprocess it with calmethod=Fe55, the energy calibration of Rev2 was not reliable.
To the best of our knowledge, it was in PROCVER=03.00.011.008 or after where the switch from using the cal-pixel to using Fe55 was made.
PROCVER can be found in the header of an event fits.

We recommend using the latest version of the data and reprocessing it using xapipeline along with the latest software and CalDB to ensure application the most up-to-date tools and calibration files.
